  well, i just ordered "crisis of conscience".

  i'm kind of nervous about actually buying and reading it.

  this life is all i've ever known, it's my whole identity really.

  Read the book, think about what you've read, then decide. There is no rush, and you surely do not want anyone who's "in" to know your doubts or plans to stop. As you can see by all the comments, you are free for the first time to make your own decisions, and change your mind anytime you want. Another good read is Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan, you can get it on Amazon.com used for $4-6. Both books will amaze you at what the WT is doing. Enjoy your freedom.

  Why would god do this?!

  why would a loving god place a tree of knowledge of good and bad in the garden and tell the two humans they could not eat from it?

  did he like tempting them or what?

  i honestly don't get it.

  If my memory is correct, they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, Gen 2:17. If that is the case, why would a loving god name a tree that, and put it in the middle of the garden? It is like telling your child "I have a big bag of candy. I know that you want it, but I'm going to set it down and leave. Now don't you touch that candy. The tree of life was also in the middle of the garden, but Adam was ordered not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as my GF's translation puts it, Gen 2:9. It seems to me that if they ate from the tree of life after they sinned, then they would not die, therefore the angel with the flaming sword at the entrance of the garden. Apperently if you ate of a certain fruit, all powerful god could not kill you, destroy you, or do any other spiteful, meanspirited things to you. Almighty? Hardly!

  First of all, welcome to the forum. I disagree with most of what the others have said. If he has family in the cult they can influence him greatly, but you need to ask him why he quit going to the meetings. If he had doubts about the beliefs, do your research and talk about their beliefs. Make sure that it just the two of you. He can tell you what he believes, or what the WT teaches, and you can show him what you found, or the two of you can look together what others say, or read Crisis of Conscience together. If he is agreeable to this, you may be able to break his tie to this cult.

  If he will not agree to this, or stops mid way through the process, I would advise you to leave him. If he wants to stick to the WT and it's teachings, it will only bring problems and hurt in the future. If he cares as much for you as you do for him, it should be a no brainer, but you have to ask yourself, do you want to spend the time to try to convince him? If so, try it, if not, get out now.

  Others have given you some sound advice, do not get involved in this religion. What is your gut feeling, stay and try to make it work, or leave? Only you can answer that. We will be here in the future to advise you if you want it, but you will get many varied opinions. Ultimately it is up to you to decide what actions you need to take.

  what level of movies would you watch when a jw

  i know some jw's who only watch movies with specific ratings.

  some will watch only pg and g. others will watch pg-13.

  but i know which ones i can watch these with and which ones not to.

  Watched anything and everything, and loved it. When 16-18 would get together with other "witnesses" and watch XXX, and loved it. No wonder I am sick and perverted, and HAPPY!

  about 2 mos ago...my parents decided that because i refused to continue my 'reinstatement' process and quit going to meetings - that they were now going to shun me after having regular contact for 10 mos!

  i was upset, but accepted it.

  although their method was harsh!

  The only time I ever hear from my mother is when she needs something. As far as I know, I haven't been DF'd and I never DA'd, but I guess she obeys the publishing company when they tell her I am bad association.....Until she needs something. You know that you can not spell bad association without the words bad ass. I guess that describes me now?

  i was thinking, not counting those who are df'd for "conduct," it seems to me that there are two type of exjws that leave.

  by this i mean the ones that woke up and came to their senses while still inside.

  1. those who found doctrinal errors and couldn't stay with the lies.. 2. those who found that there was no love and left because of the betrayal of emotions, and realization that by this fruit you knew they were not the ones, their lack of love.

  If you are still in, do you wish sometimes to be DF?

  for a year now(after 18 active years) iam 100% anti jw, hate meetings and all the jw stuff drives me crazy..... but my wife (that i trully love) and 100% of her family is still actively in.... i work hard to deprogram my wife and to make sure my little kids will never become members of any cult..... i told my wife, if she will consult elders and they would come over to talk to me, i would be df on that evening.

  she believes that, so she doesnt seek any "help".. iam inactive and visit meetings about 2 times a month, just to acompany my wife... hate kh, hate to listen the bs there, to see the zombie faces.... sometimes i wish to be df ... it would create some troubles, but from that day i would never go to kh, probably be shunned by the zombie people, who are able to talk only about "how healthy it is to eat carrot, because there was an article about it in awake.....".. life would be much easier after all.... your experience/opinion?.

  Out at Last!

  If you do not like going, the meetings frustrate and anger you, just leave. Never go back. If they DF you, who cares. They have no control over you anymore anyway. That is all they want - control.

  That is exactly what I did when I began feeling like you do now. I was in for 29 years, I always saw the hidden agenda, but the last couple of years it was like the mags and the talks were given in code and I was the only one able to break the code and see the real message. It is time to break with this cult and get it over with. What difference will it make if you do it now, or three years from now? Will your wife feel any different toward you or her religion in that time? Probably not. If you are truly unhappy, take the steps to change things. You will see that there is a big, wonderful world out there, with much nicer people than you find at KH's.
